Current R&D Projects

Smart Energy Lab is currently involved in several R&D projects funded by Horizon Europe.

EV4EU

EV4EU:

This project aims to implement bottom-up and user-centric Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) management strategies creating the conditions for electric mobility vehicles mass deployment. Smart Energy Lab's main responsibilities are the development of an innovative V2G charging solution and the management of the work package focused on the integration of V2X solutions inside cities and societal adoption. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe program and involves 16 partners from 4 different EU countries.

COMMUNITAS

COMMUNITAS:

This project aims to deliver a Knowledge Base that will provide users with technical, administrative, and legal information on Energy Communities (EC), streamlining the creation and expansion of this concept. COMMUNITAS will also deliver an innovative set of tools - capitalizing on technologies such as IoT, Blockchain and Cloud Computing - to unlock citizens’ active participation in energy markets and communities. SEL’s role is to support the implementation of the Portuguese demo and the development of an EC management tool. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe program and involves 18 partners from 8 countries.

Living energy

Real-World Demonstration in Our Living Lab

What is living energy

How it works

Living Energy is Smart Energy Lab's Living Lab, a real-life testing ground for innovative energy solutions. This unique platform allows us to test products and services with our energy community of real end-users and in a home environment, providing invaluable feedback and insights into customer needs and preferences. Living Energy offers a distinctive capability to validate the effectiveness of developed solutions—both services and products—before their market launch, ensuring they meet user expectations and perform optimally in real-world conditions.

The Living Lab energy community of participants includes a pool of energy users with different behaviours, that will help unravel new market needs and create smart energy solutions that fit a wide range of users and contexts. In return, the members of our energy community are the first to test new energy technologies and innovative products, benefiting from energy savings.
